Help me give my students diverse books that they can see themselves in. Students deserve to read books that allow them to see individuals who look or act like them achieving great things.
Third graders in this classroom have an enthusiasm for learning and a drive to be successful. They conquer challenges, whether in the classroom or in their home lives, with grace and determination. These third graders deserve countless opportunities and support. Each student has helped me become a better teacher and better person with their outlook on life and drive for success.
My Project
Students in my classroom deserve to read a book, identify with the character, and believe that they too can accomplish anything. I believe far too often classroom libraries don't accurately portray reality and don't match the diversity of the classroom population.
Students deserve to relate to someone like them, see them achieve something great, and believe they can do the same.
These books will provide students an opportunity to connect with literacy and explore different styles and messages. Students deserve to feel represented in all communities and a classroom library is a place to start.
