My students need books that represent them and the things they face. Every week I read a picture book to my fifth graders. I want books that represent the kids I love and see everyday.
This is my first year teaching and my first class. These students are very special and important to me. My class is a safe place for students from all walks of life. Our class believes in shooting for the moon to be your very best.
Our school is a Title I school with a diverse population.
We need texts that represent the amazing diversity. This bright group of fifth graders deserve the chance to grow and learn. We believe in working together as a family to achieve our dreams. I want them to see that they are important and known.
My Project
My students are a diverse bunch and I want them to be proud of it. Every week I read them one picture book that I believe to be meaningful. I use these books to teach inclusion, adversity and mindfulness.
I want to be able to read them books with people in them that look like them.
I want my students to feel recognized and know that they are special. My class is diverse and I want my books to celebrate that. These books will make my students feel included, loved, known and supported. These books are more than a story, they show love.
