My students are third and fourth graders who love spending time with friends, playing games and sports. They love to read, write, and learn. They are kind hearted, compassionate, driven, energetic, and excited learners representing various backgrounds that make our classroom a diverse community of learners.
Every one is a reader, some students just have not found their favorite book yet!
I love, more than anything, to see my students open a book and smile as they read stories that help them learn about the world around them and themselves.
It is important that students have rich classroom libraries full of books that represent and celebrate characters of all cultures and colors. This project includes 40 plus children's books with characters from various backgrounds, races, and walks of life.
Students deserve to see themselves within the pages of their books.
Students also deserve the opportunity to read and learn about different races and cultures. This project will support student self expression, diverse learning opportunities as well as literacy as students have the opportunity to select books they find interesting, read and discuss their learning and thinking. Help me provide my students a library that opens their reading to the wider world.
