As a teacher in a low-income/high poverty school district, my students are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom. Our students come from a variety of different economic backgrounds with over 100% of our students receiving free lunch. Despite the many challenges they face, I am looking to keep things simple and provide my students with creative and meaningful learning experiences. In teaching students to become productive citizens in this technological society we live in today, it is important that we give all our students the opportunities to dream, believe, and achieve their goals.
These books will help my students' learning by reading them over and over again. After sharing them with the class, they will become part of our classroom library, where they can read them by themselves or with a partner.
We read a book together everyday in class!
It is one of our most treasured times of our day! Our day is not complete unless we have shared a book together.
Students who read these chapter books and colorful stories find reading fun and begin to read more for enjoyment! Helping students begin to learn that reading is fun is perfect way to build better readers.
