My students need 35+ teen novels, including works by Jeanne DuPrau, Jeff Smith, Sharon Draper and Zilpha Keatley Snyder.

I teach 8th grade English in a high-need community. Many of my students have been held back at some point during their educational careers.

I am always trying to encourage my students to read more. I want them to develop the same love for reading that I have. While I am given a reading library for them to use, often they are not interested in the books. The books do not connect with topics they are interested. I am always spending money on books for them to read but of course there is only so much I can spend. I have noticed that the books I buy have a waiting list to read. My students show more interest in them and score higher on quizzes

I know that if I have high interest books with a variety of reading levels, my students will be on the road to becoming avid readers.

Your help will ensure that my students will have books available to them that they are interested in. Help them develop a strong reading habit that they won’t be able to quit.
