This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

The beginning of the year is a busy time for my library. Middle school students come into the library for orientation, and over and over again, I see how excited they are that we have shelves and shelves of graphic novels and manga books. Students who may not have been excited about a class period in the library perk up and say things like, "We didn't have these books in my other library!" or "Wow, you guys have manga? Cool!"

These books get checked out all year long!

I have put a graphic novel/manga book request for the last few years, and I can tell all of the people who have donated, these books get used! Many of them are getting worn out! But, that is just fine. These students are happy to read through a series, even if some of the copies are worn.

Many of the books on this list have been requested this year, and some are continuations of series that have been popular.
