Many of my students are very artistic, creative, and love to compete with each other during math and literacy games. The students in my class are very driven and engaged when they feel comfortable in the classroom which can be a challenge for them some days. Frequent use of flexible seating options and small manipulative objects help them focus their attention and calm down their anxieties during class.
Artistically driven, curious, and full of enthusiasm; my students love to be challenged with new experiences and problems.
They work the best when they feel that a part of the classroom is theirs and that no matter what they are able to retreat to a safe area when they feel overwhelmed.
The book bins and books that come as a part of the sets will allow for the students in my classroom to easily find engaging and appropriate books that fit their Fountas and Pinnell reading levels. The bins themselves will provide a space for a variety of books to be swapped out in a neat and organized system using the book rack funded in a previous project.
Donating to this project will give my students more options to choose from that match their reading level and allow them to practice the reading skills they learn in class.
We will use the materials in this project to create interest in different genres and characters found in books. This will in turn give many students a much needed link to certain series and genres that will in turn help them become life long readers.
