Our school is a very special K-5 school located in Silicon Valley. Our students are motivated learners and enjoy stretching their thinking in all areas. Our teachers work hard to help every student reach their full learning potential. Students, staff, and families work together as a community to provide a caring and safe environment for this learning to flourish. As a result, we are one of the top-performing schools in the state!
The fifth graders in room 14 are an extra-special group who are continuing to become more independent and responsible in their own learning as they prepare to move to middle school next year.
One of the most important goals for the year is for students to be eager, thoughtful, curious readers!
My Project
When you walk into our classroom, the first thing you'll see is our library and that's because books are one of the most important parts of our room. Every day in reading workshop students grab their book bins and head to their reading spot and focus in on reading time. These book bins hold the treasures (books!) that they've picked out to read. I've asked each student to have 3-4 just-right books in their bin and they'll probably be ready to change these out every two weeks. That's a lot of books!
The donations to this project will ensure that students have high-interest books to replenish their book bins at all times!
I'm excited to continue reading workshop because it helps build lifelong readers!
