My fourth grade students are incredibly special to me, and I want to give them all the opportunities I possibly can. They come from all walks of life. They love doing TikTok dances, talking about Among Us ("that's so us!"), and laughing as much as they can. It's my hope that I can make learning as fun as possible for them so that they will turn out to be curious, life-long learners for the rest of their lives.
My Project
The idea of children wearing face masks during the entire school day used to be a laughable thought. People have made jokes about how they predicted kids would chew on their masks, wear their masks over their eyes, slingshot their masks around the room, and every other scenario you can imagine.
However, my students have learned over the past five months how to properly wear face masks in school to keep our community safe.
What would really help them become responsible mask-wearers for the remainder of the school year are these mask lanyards. These will especially help for when my students have to take off their masks to eat. When they take off the masks, they won't accidentally end up on the floor.
In this project, I've also included several school supplies that will directly improve the education I'm giving my students. For example, science fair is coming up, and I'd love to have several science fair boards I can discreetly give to my students who I know come from families whose budgets are currently a little too tight. I've also added pipe cleaners, which is a favorite STEM supply my students love to build and work with. Just recently, some of my students found out that pipe cleaners have wire in the middle and can even conduct electricity through them to power up a lightbulb!
