My 3rd graders are a unique and diverse group of students in a Title I school. Many receive free and reduced-price lunch. They are energetic and enthusiastic about learning. They are inquisitive and always searching for new ideas. Every day brings new joy and excitement as we collaborate and grow with each other.
As their teacher, it is my goal to open students' eyes to 21st Century Skills.
I want my students to leave my classroom with a strong understanding of academic skills, but more importantly skills for their future learning and careers.
The students in my classroom have two favorite times of the day: read aloud and STEM learning time. During read aloud, students get lost in the characters of our books and are able to learn lessons and improve their relationships with peers. I want to provide them with more quality read alouds that they can relate to and learn from. STEM learning is our future and these students are always eager to use engineering skills to build their STEM thinking. Students can use the handsets to incorporate technology into their STEM learning through apps we already use frequently in the classroom. Who wouldn't love a break from our structured, rigorous learning to be creative with STEM activities?
All of the materials I'm requesting would help enhance student learning through interesting read alouds, STEM learning choices, and comfortable flexible seating options.
We have flexible seating in our classroom that allows students to wiggle and improve focus while learning. The yoga balls are a classroom favorite, so I would like to provide students with a couple more yoga balls to choose from.
I want to provide my students with experiences that will enhance creativity, challenge them daily, and create an excitement for learning!
