My Students
My students come from varying degrees of socioeconomic status, background, and ethnicity. Most are English Language Learners, but they work tirelessly to understand and comprehend the English language by choosing books at their level and interest, conversing with fellow students and participating in group work during their small group and intervention time.
My students have endured so much in their short lives, I want to inspire them to keep on learning, even through the face of adversity.
My students work hard, even though the challenges they face and persevere through the most difficult situations. They thrive best in situations where they can use their hands to manipulative materials, thus taking charge of their own learning and coming to their own conclusions and understanding. They enlighten my life every single day and I could not imagine a day without their sweet, smiling faces!
My Project
My students are the most incredible students I have yet to encounter! They are brave, intelligent and courageous! They face so many hurdles and challenges in their lives and still get up ready try again the next day or the next time.
My students are avid readers, who would rather read than do anything else!
They then discuss the most interesting parts of their book with their peers, thus creating a peer review! New books in our classroom would enhance my students' vocabulary as well as continue to give them practice on communicating their book ideas with their peers, thus giving them communication skills.
Also, my students come from low income, high poverty households and as such often come to school hungry and are hungry throughout the day. The snacks I have chosen will help to quell their hunger so they can direct their concentration elsewhere, such as reading amazing books, doing book discussions with their peers and learning all they can in 4th grade that will prepare them for the rigor in 5th grade.
By donating to our project, you will be helping my students increase their fluency and oral communication skills, quell their hunger so they can put their attention on their academics and continue to be successful leaders of our future!
