I am a first-year teacher in a very small, rural community with about 140 kids in the entire high school, and I am lucky enough to teach Spanish to approximately 100 of these wonderful kids! Spanish is the only foreign language offered, and I am the only Spanish teacher in the district, so it has been incredibly rewarding to watch these kids grow and learn.
My students are diligent, inquisitive, and charming individuals who could do absolutely wonderful things if provided with adequate resources.
My students truly make going to work every day enjoyable and I am having the best time getting to know all of them as individuals.
My Project
The two class sets of books will be used for units that are focused on the novels. My classes will do daily activities and we will read together. The other books will contribute to a class library that I am trying to create.
Help me take away the boring, out-dated textbooks and introduce the language to my students using literature, culture, and a fun time!
I want my students to be exposed to new words and phrases and cultures every week, and 10-15 minutes of free reading gives them the opportunity and the relaxed atmosphere to do just that! Thank you!
