I teach 20 intelligent and active second-graders in a small, rural community. Because the school budget is limited, we cannot purchase supplies beyond our basic necessities.
Kindness, respect, and empathy are just some of the character traits being reinforced in our classroom.
These students love to read and write, discover, design and build, and be active. Throughout the day, students can be found having whole-group brainstorming sessions, independently reading and writing, and conducting engineering builds in small groups.
The classroom needs to be conducive to learning for all students, learning styles, and activities. Providing multiple areas to learn, discover, problem-solve, and work together is what encourages the students to develop skills to become lifelong learners and positive citizens.

My Project
This project is full of necessary school supplies, organization tools, and books about Native American culture.
These books, supplies, and tools will be used every day in this second-grade classroom.
The bins will neatly hold the LEGOS and building blocks. The folders are for the students' binders. Native American books are essential for explaining cultural differences and learning about Native American tribes in the US.
Second grade is a pivotal grade at which students are learning to read, explore cultural diversity, and see how organization helps the day flow and for them to take charge of their learning.
