Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are more than just special needs students. They are eager, young people who have willingly welcomed and embraced our core values of Show Up, Be Brave, and I am Enough. My students believe that they can achieve more than what is written on an IEP or what is expected of them.
In our classroom, my students are my kids.
My students' academic abilities vary and range from very low to medium, but their creativity is boundless. They love learning and are passionate to explore alternate ways of approaching problems, texts, and ways to express their opinions. My kids are lifelong learners!
My Project
Over the last year or so I have accumulated a lot of books and was ecstatic to share them with my special education English class. However, due to lack of storing, most of those books are currently sitting in boxes in our classroom.
Books should be displayed!
I love watching my students, and other guests, browse through the one book case we currently have and find a title that interests them. I would absolutely love to display even more books and make our classroom a place where book lovers can go to.
The bookcase I am requesting will allow me to display more books and create a culture of learning that fosters a love of reading.
