My students are the youngest learners in our public schools. They walk in my door for their first experience in the public school system. With a fun and energizing spirit, we strive to laugh and learn each day. We explore through books, writing, and lots of playing. They come from a wide range of backgrounds that allows us to share and learn culturally from each other.
Our school is very active in encouraging students to explore the world around them, from involvement in after-school sports to community service.
Our campus strives to create community and foster student growth outside the classroom. Students are given opportunities to participate in activities such as Battle of the Books, Science Fair, Oral Language, Student Council, Track Meet, SWAAT (Students with an Aptitude to Teach), Bank of America Speech Contest, and Student Valet.
My Project
Do you remember learning to read and being frustrated when you couldn't find your favorite book on the shelf? That happens all the time in the TK classroom! Although my students love the reading area, there is always frustration over finding their favorite book. It may have been a teacher-read theme book or just a plain old favorite from home.
By having this bookshelf in our reading area, students will once again be able to quickly find a favorite or new book and begin their journey of reading.
The bookshelf will allow me to set out a selection of theme books each month for students to explore as well as display my favorite read-alouds. Our reading area will once again be easy to navigate and students will again be able to quickly find and enjoy their favorite books.
