This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are inquisitive, passionate, caring, thoughtful, full of gratitude, song and laughter. They have lived in the neighborhood for generations. They are immigrants from Africa, Latin America and Asia. Their ancestors came unwillingly or they've been here from time immemorial.

My Project

My students have hard-working parents who labor long hours to provide for their families. They count on schools and libraries to support them in educating their children, and right now, with the COVID-19 crisis, access to books has become nearly impossible. My students love to read, and this project will give them a book of their very own to read and re-read, to put under their pillow, to start a home library. I can only imagine how their faces will brighten when they open their books and write their names inside.
