Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students come from a suburban neighborhood. The poverty within the school community allows 100% of our students to receive free breakfast and lunch. Our kiddos are culturally and racially diverse and come from many different, unique walks.

We have the most authentic, caring, inquisitive and funny students at our school.

I love being able to teach and learn from these wonderful open minds and open hearts! They are beautiful young people, and it is my lifelong intention as a person and educator to give them the very best I am able.

My Project

I love books. I love reading stories to children and seeing what a positive impact they make. I feel so strongly about kiddos and them making a better place for us all. We must give our children confidence.

Empowered, wise children will make the world a better place and books are the tool to catch these young lives on fire.

There is so much confusion, loss, and disconnect in the world and I believe that children can lead the way to change if given the tools to do so.

I strongly believe it is my responsibility to love and nurture these young lives to feel confident, have strong morals and feel passionate about making the world a better place while becoming global citizens. I have never found a better tool to do this than from words, from books.

I am putting together three projects to gather these books of understanding and empowerment, that will also celebrate and honor people of color to reflect my students.

In September 2019, my hope is to have an empowerment parade for students based on the lessons shared from these books. And I lovingly invite all who donate to this cause to join me, hand-in-hand, to participate and celebrate as the children lead the way.

I believe they will make the world a better place, thank you for believing in them too.
