I teach 3rd grade. I love the transition they make from primary to intermediate grade. They are figuring out how important school is and learning to be more independent! They also are perfectionists and go through tons of materials at this age! My third graders come from diverse backgrounds and bring so much personality into the classroom! Unfortunately, as most teachers know these days, the money for extras, let alone basics are just not there! My 3rd graders are grateful as am I for any outside support we receive through DonorsChoose.org projects!
My Project
I have been teaching for 20 years. Many of my books definitely reflect this! Every year I try to update a few books, but time has caught up with me! Every day someone is asking for the tape to try to fix a book they want to read. My 3rd graders are especially bright this year! They are flying through the chapter books and we just don't have enough. My kids love chapter book series and really get into their independent reading time. We really need more books for our classroom library to keep those brains expanding and exploring. My already smart students will excel even more.
