My students need a class set (25 books each) of two novels: "The Inuit Thought of It" as well as "Investigating the Scientific Method with Max Axiom, Super Scientist".

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
"Camden, NJ ranked most dangerous in the country AGAIN!" "Poverty and homelessness rampant in Camden, NJ!" I am sure when you think of Camden, you picture gun-ridden streets, homelessness, and an overall sense of doom. You may feel sorrow or despair for the residents, children especially, of this heavily populated city. It is a shame that our city and its residents rarely make the news for any sort of positive messages!
I see hope, perseverance, and a will to learn and grow.
Our students in Camden, NJ are special. Some have such sad stories at such a young age, but... out of sadness often comes triumph. My students are thirsty for knowledge, and as their teacher, I do everything in my power to keep that thirst alive!
My Project
This is the second of a three part project! I am adapting a new curriculum this year that requires students to have 8 books (not basals, or a single literacy textbook). I have already purchased two sets on my own, totaling over $400. I am requesting funds for two more sets of novels.
Both of these texts are rigorous, engaging, and will assist the students build their literacy skills as well as build their knowledge about the world!
The first is an aspiring novel about the Inuit culture and technology. The second is graphic novel that explains the scientific method.
