My students need an abundance of leveled readers at their fingertips that are just right for them. Phonics strategies and sight word strategies are the basis for building up a fluent reader.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I have the opportunity to jump back into teaching these youngsters at a Title 1 school where funds for teaching tools are limited, and we have schools dealing with the aftermath of Hurricane Harvey as well. My personal funds are also very limited. I have been out of the classroom for the last 5 years taking care of my dependent mother. Before I left my previous school district, I gave away my teaching supplies to other teachers in need, including a few first year teachers.
As I enter back into the classroom, there are a few basic essentials that I feel will help to enhance my students' learning chances, as well as, their enthusiasm for doing so.
Small groups are essential and a must to reach individuals from where they start to where I would like them to end up. Working in this capacity, along with readers that are just right for them, will truly make a difference in their progress with reading.
So please help my classroom and my students by assisting us with some various learning tools that will add interest to our learning.
My Project
Our school has some readers, but having varying ones at our fingertips in the classroom will have a more direct fit and benefit to increase the students' essential skills. Having a diverse choice available will also give kids a chance to increase personal choice and personal morale.
Varying experiences thru literature will also increase kids range on how to choose a just right book for them and how to choose books that work better for them.
These books will be used for independent, shared, and guided reading. Writing extension activities will also play a roll as students work on theme, character, main idea, etc. thru these readers.
