My students need access to books that will spark their imaginations, and they need comfortable places like bean bags to enjoy reading.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
There is never a dull moment in our classroom. What I love most about my students is how respectful they are of each other. Our class discussions are always so enriching because students feel safe in our classroom community sharing ideas with their peers.
Providing access to meaningful learning materials is one of the best ways I can support students.
It can be very difficult to get help for materials in our neighborhood because some of our families are more worried about being able to put food on the table. I use DonorsChoose.org as a way to give my students the learning opportunities they deserve.
My Project
By using these books, my students will be able to not only increase their skills as readers but also as writers. We use a lot of mentor texts that we get from our school library to guide our writing. With these books in our classroom library, students will have access to these resources any time of the day. I also want my students to be able to take these books home and read them with their parents. Reading with your child is one of the most important things you can do with them. If students have access to their own books through our classroom library, they will be able to make that connection with their parents via reading at night with them. The bean bags are the kids' favorite place to sit, but the ones we currently have are ripping apart!
