My Students
I teach at a Title I public school for 6th-grade reading and writing. The student demographic is 43% African American, 32% Asian (I have been informed majority Hmong), 16% Latino, 5% white, 4% two or more races. The majority of my students are below grade level but have a new love for reading and because of this, we can have a great year! I have kids returning books to our classroom library on a daily basis- and want to keep it going throughout the year!
My Project
I find pride in my school, our classroom, and my students! We have created a safe place to love reading, writing, and critical learning! With that being said, they are reading every day and now are searching and wanting more books. These are the books my students have asked me to get them- which is why I am here asking you to help me! I am a first-year teacher trying to give these kids the books they want to see- help me get there! They deserve it! Many come from a low income background so if I (or my community) do not get them these books they won't ever get them. Please help support my students by their new desire and love for reading! This is where growth and progress are made!
