I teach in a wonderful public school. My students come to school eager and ready to learn. Their love of learning shines daily. They make every day a wonderful adventure.
My school serves a very diverse population.
The school covers grades kindergarten to eighth grade. It is a Title One school in which all students receive free lunch. There are students with many diverse abilities. We have many students who receive ELL and special education services. All of the students come to school every day eager and ready to learn.
My Project
Students need to see themselves and their friends in their classroom. Providing a print-rich environment that represents all kinds of kids will help create empathy and understanding.
We have a diverse community, and books are one way to make our students feel welcomed, valued, and equal.
The books represent kids just like them dealing with similar things they have gone through or are currently experiencing. Your donation will ensure that there are gender- and culturally-diverse books in my classroom. The students will be motivated to read them because they will have an instant connection with them. They will improve their reading ability as well as help them become more empathetic to others.
