I am starting a new classroom in an expanding school and all of my students will be new to me! We are a classical education school with a tremendous focus on literature. My students are a group of creative, silly, hard-working kids and I am excited for the new school year! My students are 6th and 7th graders that I share with the math/science teacher. I know many of the students are interested in sports, reading and, of course, video games. Some of them love martial arts while others enjoy dance and performing arts.
My Project
Part of setting up a new classroom means a large portion of my budget goes to consumable materials my students will use every day. By donating to our classroom library, you will help provide permanent, grade-level, independent reading materials that interest a broad range of students. Students who are able to read materials of high interest will develop a lifelong love of reading as well as strong reading habits to assist in crosscurricular success. Students will build upon their background knowledge, therefore ensuring they have a connection to concepts within the curriculum. Independent reading materials also provide variety for early finishers within the classroom which is beneficial to positive classroom management.
