Have you ever heard a story and couldn't wait to read more like it? My students have been excited about the Rotten School series for years, but the two copies in the library are not enough to satisfy the 3rd and 4th grade students who keep asking for them over and over again.
We attend a preschool-5th grade school in a town in Arizona.
Most of our students live in poverty and don't always have the things that they need most. Not unlike our students' families, our school has a very tight budget. We try our very best to make learning exciting and offering as many new experiences as we can. However, things like new library books are something we can't always afford, no matter how much the students really want them.
My Project
The series of books called "Rotten School" are written by R.L. Stine, but are not typical of his usual style of writing scary stories. These stories are about all sorts of fun adventures and escapades that students can have at school. In our library, we have 2 "Rotten School" books. These books are always checked out and are requested over and over again by students in third and fourth grade. These books are fun books that even reluctant readers want to read. Many of the students who request these books are student who normally do not read at all.
Please help our students, especially those who are reluctant readers, get excited about books.
The purchase of this set of twelve books will be read over and over again. Currently, our school has more than 150 3rd and 4th graders, many of whom have asked for these books more than once this year. These books will outlast these 150 students and will be read for years and years to come, encouraging hundreds of students to get excited about reading, especially the reluctant ones.
