Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I am a reading intervention teacher who meets with around sixty students (first-eighth) each day on a rotating basis. My students are struggling readers who are reading below grade level. In my class, it is not rare for students to grow in leaps and bounds, increasing their reading level by two or even three grade levels. Some come in with a distaste for reading, but come out loving reading as they become more confident in their reading ability.

They push themselves, eager to learn, improve and excel each time they enter my room.

During my lunch hour, they would knock at my door, asking to be let in so that they can practice their reading. They truly want to excel as students and readers.

My Project

Laughter is contagious. So, it goes to say that books that make us laugh are also contagious. These books are popular to all readers. These books will make reading not only highly enjoyable, but will catch on to others as they hear others laughing in each page.

Books like "Timmy Failure" or "Super Rabbit Boy" contain laugh-inducing illustrations, witty and humorous dialogues, and a compelling story plot that will keep students glued to the book and laughing on the floor.

These books reach all ages, from 1st graders to my middle schoolers. By giving students more reading choices, they will more likely find books that they enjoy. By seeing and hearing others enjoying themselves in a book, will motivate nearby listeners to also read!
