My students need books that they can take home each day and read out loud to their families. These books need to be at their reading level.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
What makes a child love reading? When we send home books they can actually read. Each day my students come to school with their little book they read the night before and they are so excited. They open the book and point to all the words they could sound out on their own. They feel success!
My students are five and six year old Kindergartners.
They are mostly middle to low income. They are eager to learn and want to show their parents they can read but their Library books are often above their reading levels. They need books that are /at/ their reading levels. These books include words the child can sound out. (Bob Books meet this description)
My Project
Each day my children take home a book they can read. The next day they literally run to the book corner to pick out a new book. Some of my children have limited language abilities. These are the ones who show the most joy because the pictures and easy words help them to feel success as READERS.
I have been a kindergarten teacher for 30 years.
Your donation to these books will provide a classroom library of books for kids to take home, read on their own and return the next day for a new check out experience.
