My students love to read! They like to be able to pick from the newest, most popular books, and when they find a book that really peaks their interest, it's exciting to see them motivated to keep reading! Many of our students do not have access to books at home, so my classroom is where they are able to read their favorites.
Books are contagious!
When one student finds a book he or she likes, their friends want to start reading it too. This positive chain reaction is the best way to keep our readers motivated!
To see students have excitement for reading creates a positive and enthusiastic atmosphere in the classroom. Books allow them to take an adventure and go anywhere they choose!
My Project
These Spanish Time for Kids non-fiction books and National Geographic Readers are essential to my classroom! Because of the jobs in our school's community, our Hispanic population is expected to double in the next five years. These books will be used by the students during science, social studies, and reading classes. These books are crucial in helping to bridge the language gap between Spanish and English for these incoming students. They will increase comprehension, as well as start to help them form word relationships between the English and Spanish versions of the words. The students will also be able to use these books to do reports, which aids in learning and using informational text.
Providing bilingual students with the materials they need will keep them motivated to learn!
When a child finds books that they like, they want to keep reading. These books will help motivate students to keep learning, and they will also help them increase their language skills in all subject areas. Please consider helping these students!
