Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are newcomers to the country mostly from Brazil or El Salvador. They want to learn and do their best. They are excited to learn and make friends and show when they have learned something new. I get new students fairly frequently, so my number of students is always growing.

My Project

I have found some books available through Amazon Prime in Spanish and Portuguese for my students to read. My students are new to the country. While I am teaching them vocabulary, reading, and writing in English, I would like for them to be able to read books in their home language for fun. When students are reading independently, it would be nice for my students to be able to read books in their home language. Often during independent reading, students just end up looking at the pictures in the English books we have in the classroom. I would like my students to be engaged and thinking along with the rest of the class.
