Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
As a teacher serving a low income area, there are specific challenges that my students face both in and out of the classroom. These eager and excited young students come to school every day ready to learn and happy to explore. Unfortunately, situations beyond their control threaten their success on a daily basis.
Many of my students have a difficult time securing the basic supplies they'll need for daily use.
For this reason, my projects on DonorsChoose.org are of vital importance to my students. I believe that it is my duty to provide these exceptional young thinkers the best opportunities that I possibly can. My diverse group of dedicated and inquisitive students will get the chance they deserve with the help of these resources.
My Project
These materials are all a part of the Writer's Workshop I hope to implement in my classroom. A color printer is essential to creating tools to help with their writing that are both exciting and useful. Clipboards make it possible for them to find their favorite spot in the room to work and a document camera will help me bring mentor texts to life.
These resources together will make it possible to implement writing lessons that my students will love with materials that will build their skills.
I currently don't have access to color printing or class sets of books we use for writing so this project will make a big difference!
