This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

My students are underprivileged and sometimes misunderstood. The majority of my students do not have the necessary tools or means to be successful in life, let alone in the classroom. I want to be the light at the end of the tunnel when my students come into my classroom. I want to be that one teacher that gives them hope and makes them want to be the difference they want to see in there homes and communities. I want my classroom to be there home away from home and their safe place, where they not only come to learn and gain knowledge but where they come to be apart of a movement and a safe place where they can express themselves openly without judgment.

My Project

As an English teacher, I believe students need books to expand their minds and imagination. Excellent reading skills are very important at any grade level and are very necessary and useful in life. Making sure that my students are either at or above grade reading level is my number one goal this year and with these books, I know I will be able to reach this goal. Students want to be able to read well and want to be able to comprehend what they read, and I feel that making sure that they are exposed and able to have access to books that can help them gain that are very important.
