Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

My students are economically diverse but very tech-savvy. They get bored very quickly because they are used to the fast pace of technology. I have some students who pick up on things quickly while others need lots and lots of practice on things.

Many of the students at our school are lower academically.

I aim to be a strong driving force for change in my students' lives. The administration pushes teachers who in turn push students to be the best versions of themselves possible.

This has been an absolutely awesome year, but I need your help to make next year even better.

My Project

I have been teaching for a few years and have collected a few books. But the books that seem to elude me, the ones that students get so excited about are the ones that connect with math, science, and social studies

Students get so excited about seeing the bugs and snakes and other critters in books.

They love seeing them on the pages and learning all about them. They read them over and over again.

We need more books like this! Books for the blocks area. Books that connect with math and science and social studies learning. We need books that when we talk about community helpers, we can show them in action and learn about them. We need books about 3d shapes, counting, adding, and more. We need books that are for SEL too.
