My Students

What is the number one skill students need to be successful in school? Reading is everything at the elementary level! Helping my students develop into readers will allow them to find success in all subject areas. Books Galore will provide the resources my students need to become readers.

My classroom is comprised of twenty-nine boys and girls who enjoy learning.

Many of the students at my school come from one income families. Furthermore, many of the students in my classroom are school of choice. This means that they do not reside within the district boundaries.

My Project

These books will greatly enhance my ability to conduct a reading workshop in my classroom. Reading workshop is a framework for instruction in which the teacher teaches a skill through a mini lesson. The students are then asked to practice that skill by reading books that are at their independent reading level. That is why I am asking for leveled books. These books will be used by the students on a daily basis as they practice the skills that are taught in my daily mini lessons.

As I mentioned, many of the students in my classroom do not have access to appropriate text.

Therefore, these books will allow my students to have an opportunity to read appropriately leveled books.
