Books Galore! Hoping For Bluford Series and More Books!
My students need new books including the Bluford series, Encyclopedia Prehistorica, the Stephanie Meyers series, and a Nook Color to help promote reading in our class.
This project expired on September 23, 2011.
Hooray! This project is fully funded
Reading takes us places! Most of my students love to read. There are a few kids every year though that don't enjoy reading. My goal is to get every single student in my classroom to LOVE reading!
I teach fourth grade in an elementary school with over 700 students.
We live in a small town on the Oregon coast. Over 60% of the students in our school are on free or reduced lunch. This makes us a Title I high needs school. I have a fantastic group of 32 students this year. They are eager to learn new things and I love being their teacher. I look forward to going to work every day!
My students are in need of new books. I know the Bluford series has a variety of books that deal with problems children face every single day like bullying and feeling left out or alone. I also chose a variety of pop-up books. Pop-up books are exciting because each page has a secret flap or 3-D piece. The kids discover all sorts of new things with pop-up books every time they read. The Encyclopedia Prehistorica series is an excellent group of books that help to spark the imaginations of kids. They discuss dinosaurs, sharks and other mythical creatures. The Stephanie Meyers series includes all of the Twilight books (which kids love right now). My students are also hoping to get a Nook EReader. With the Nook we can download books anytime for the kids to read. I know everyone will look forward to using the Nook. These books are sure to help some of my reluctant readers love to read.
I know my students would be completely excited if this project was funded!
New books would be the answer to helping my students feel passionate about reading. Thank you for your consideration and for taking the time to read this project. Happy reading!!
