My Students

My students are special because they are my kids, they are friends, they are kind, and they have a desire to learn! We are a small rural K-3 school. Our 3rd graders are the "big kids" at the school and they take great pride in teaching respect, responsibility, and resourcefulness to those all around.

I have a class full of kids who know how to persevere and show me every day that by never giving up they are capable of anything.

They come in the morning ready to learn, full of energy and life, curiosity and wonder, and they are reaching for the stars with everything they do.

I am proud of my kids for all they do each and every day. They know their efforts in my classroom do not go unnoticed and they are making strong gains and have bright futures!

My Project

The books I have selected are multicultural books that are of high interest to 3rd-grade students.

These are books I can use to teach about making connections to students' own lives, books that are targeted at student interest, and books I hope can ignite the same love of learning I have in my students.

The books open up possibilities to deepen our comprehension of both fiction and nonfiction text and they lend themselves to be able to use for research projects.

We will use these books as mentor texts and students will learn how to comprehend text, make connections, infer, make predictions, summarize, and conduct research based on their learning from these books. The document envelopes will keep the books safe as students will be able to take the books home to read to their family.

With your support we can get these books into the hands of eager learners and help them develop reading skills that will last through their schooling into adulthood!
