We are fortunate to live in a Bay Area community that is rich in cultural diversity. Many of my students embody rich cultures and desire to connect with their backgrounds. A majority of the students in the district are avid readers and are searching to make these connections through challenging diverse and inclusive texts that align with their interests as well as teach them about others; they yearn for this connection.
They are both excited to choose their books and always searching for "just the right" book.
Students are both excited about middle school and challenged by all the changes. They are eager and avid readers, interested in diverse and challenging books. When students find a book they love, they come alive!
My Project
Over the years books have become lost and not replaced in the library. Just when a student becomes engaged in a series, they may find a volume missing and their momentum is lost, just when they are the most engrossed in their reading and enjoying a series.
Help us to complete our current collections, create new collections, and fill our library with vibrant and diverse books that students can enjoy now and for years to come.
