This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students come to the learning center to get more intense reading support. They also come to the learning center to get more help with academics. Most of the students I serve are getting special education services. These books would give them the confidence to want to read and be able to read!
My students go to public school in a low-resourced area of Illinois.
My students come to the classroom everyday thirsting for more knowledge. They are creative thinkers and very inquisitive. They have so many questions when it comes to math, reading, writing, and science. When new materials arrive in our classroom my students cannot wait to use them! They are always eager to try new things!
My Project
My students will be able to access text at their reading level. Being in a low poverty school, I don't have access to text at their level. My students are so ready to learn and read at their level! Having these books in the classroom would give them a chance to find a book they are able to read independently. Also the books would be a lot more interesting to the students. Also, working with my students we have to sometimes talk about tough issues. Having these books about bullies and tough times in a story form the students would be able to relate to what is being said. The students I work with just want to have books they are able to comprehend and also enjoy!
My students reading level would increase.
They would also be able to have books at their level. They would feel confident when reading. Also my students would be able to find a book at their level and not spend hours looking at books that they are not able to read.
