My Students
Do you remember what it was like the first time you read a book that you couldn't put down? My students have not yet discovered books that capture their imaginations, but they have also not yet met Roald Dahl.
My students come from low socioeconomic backgrounds.
Many families are struggling to meet the day to day needs of their child. Many students do not have access to ANY books at home. We have a high population of students who do not have access to transportation, therefore trips to the library are few and far between. I work at a Charter school that is in their 2nd year in operation. Money and resources are scarce. We would greatly appreciate help in building up a classroom library. We do not have a school library so having a class library to choose from is incredibly important for my students. Thank you for reviewing my project! My Project
I have listed a variety of books consisting of all reading levels of my current students. With these books we will have read-a-louds, practice independent reading and guided reading and form book clubs. There is so much to be learned from reading books. I have selected a variety of books from various genres including character building topics which is so important for our population.
My students are hungry to read!
I currently have a very limited library selection. I have previously taught 1st and 3rd grade, therefore most of the books I have are not at the appropriate level for my 5th & 6th graders. However, students are still very eager to borrow my books. I cannot wait to start reading these grade/reading level appropriate books with my students. Thank you in advance for your support!
