Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Third grade is an adventure! In grades K-2, students are learning to read. Now that they have that foundation, they are able to start reading for pleasure. The students in my classroom have a large range of abilities. Some are reading at a first grade level, and some are reading at a fifth grade level. We work hard to get everyone to be reading at grade level before they move on to the next grade. Our students don't always have access to a local library because of their home life, so having a full classroom library gives them the ability to further their reading abilities even though they don't have access at home.
My Project
My students will be putting on a wax museum this year. I would love to use the Who Was... books for students to use to conduct their research. The Who Was... books are user friendly for my third grade students. They are already showing interest in them as we go to the library. They are surprised that there are so many. They are getting anxious about the wax museum. Having the books that they will use for their research in the classroom before we need them will allow my students to look over them first and get interest in their person they will be working on.
