Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I have a group of 24 second graders who are eager and excited to learn. These kids come from a variety of backgrounds and they all have very individual learning needs. Some kids are ELL, some struggle with reading or math, and some need to be challenged. These kids spent their first two years in virtual learning and hybrid school. I want to make 2nd grade special!
My Project
My students need some books right at their reading level,that they can take home to practice their reading skills with their family. My students will be able to practice their phonics skills, fluency and comprehension at home. Elementary children need to be reading and practicing every night at home. Many students do not have books at home that they can read. These take home books would give my students the practice that they need. My students will use the phonics activity cards and the fluency activities to practice their skills independently while I am teaching other reading groups.
