Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach classes of students with disabilities in the 4th and 5th grades. Many are diagnosed with a specific learning disability or autism. My students come from all socioeconomic backgrounds but have one thing in common...a thirst for knowledge.

Our students live in a semi-rural area with limited opportunities.

Our students attend a Title I elementary school in our district with almost 500 students; 53% of our students receive free or reduced-cost lunch.

My Project

These materials will inspire creativity. They will also create a unique escape and journey. Reading a book is a special gift. Students will visualize and read these novels. My students absolutely love graphic novels.

Most of my students struggle with a specific learning disability.

Graphic novels help them visualize read new books. Graphic novels are my most highly requested and anticipated ask. My students learning outcomes will rise due to interest and intentional love for reading.

Help my students have access to continuing their educational needs. Students feel so special when they see new books. There’s nothing like getting lost in a book.
