My Students

My students are young, excited, ready to experience all that second grade has to offer in public school! They work at tables where they collaborate, and inspire each other in math, or hands-on engineering, or science activities. We sit on the floor for class interactive read alouds, and the children are always full of amazing insights. I love to come to school everyday, and spend time with them.

My children love to come to school too, because often it is the only place they can get breakfast and a good lunch.

So often, the children tell me they don't want to go home at the end of the day, because they love school so much. It is a place of learning, entertainment, and support.

My Project

I have some students in my room who are struggling to come to grade level reading standards for second grade.

They really need books to excite them that they are able to read.

We have a limited selection of below grade level books and these would really help foster a love of reading.

With leveled books students are better able to access non-fiction curriculum, and better able to enjoy reading. Reading books above their level neither helps, promotes or inspires children to read on their own. rather they become dependent on help from an adult.

Well, once they take off, the sky is the limit.
