Many of my students come to kindergarten without previous schooling experience. My school has many students who live in poverty and this impacts my students every day. Despite these challenges that my students persevere through every day, they are excited and enthusiastic about coming to school and learning every day. As a teacher, I make it a priority to instill a love of learning for all of my students.
Everyday, we engage in activities that are fun and meaningful to reach each student at their developmental level.
Books are a great way to for my students to learn about the world around them. My students are continuing to develop a love of reading and they love new books.
My Project
Many of my students do not have access to books in their home. The only time they can read or look at a book is during school. My classroom needs guided reading book sets in order to develop their reading skills to be ready for first grade. These book sets will allow students to read about a variety of different topics and learn to read a range of sight words fluently.
These books sets will be a great addition for my students by encouraging them to share their love of reading at school and at home.
They can share their reading with their families at home to extend their school learning. These books sets will also help my students build their vocabulary.
