This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Our school is in the city of Richmond. Our urban school receives federal funding for programs that provide free breakfast and lunch for every student. Our students, teachers and families are proud of our school and work hard each school day. There are many days that teachers and students work before and after school in order to provide additional instruction and activities for students and their families.
We are truly a community of learning dedicated to meeting the diverse needs of all of our students and supporting families.
My Project
First Grade is all about learning reading strategies and becoming skilled and successful readers. We are in need of more titles in order to reach every student during small group instruction. Students work with the teacher and then books are placed in independent book boxes for more reading so we need a big supply of titles.
Leveled readers with exciting themes are necessary tools for instruction in order to meet the needs of all students as they become successful readers.
A classroom of first graders enjoying their own books and becoming successful readers is a beautiful sight. We need your help to get more books in the hands of young readers at Bellevue.
DonorsChoose is the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
As a teacher-founded nonprofit, we're trusted by thousands of teachers and supporters across the country. This classroom request for funding was created by Mrs. Saulsbury and reviewed by the DonorsChoose team.
