My students need books to support them and their classroom teachers to address behaviors and social skills that are challenging for them. These books can be used with the whole class or with individual students.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students come from primarily low socio-economic homes where their parents are doing the very best that they can to provide for their basic needs. As a result, these students are often lacking basic social skills that need to be addressed in a fun and supportive way with a lot of reminders throughout the years.
Every student deserves for their social-emotional needs to be met in a fun and supportive way.
Books often lend themselves to a point of need use and are often helpful in reinforcing ideas that would otherwise be difficult to do.
My Project
Students from low socioeconomic backgrounds often struggle with social skills and with the ability to self regulate. These can lead to significant behavior issues in the classroom. These behavior issues often translate into more academic problems over the course of their lifespan.
The books will help the students with these skills and self regulation in order to ultimately raise their academic achievement level and better arm them with skills for their future.
Students that are often worried about having enough food or warm enough clothes to wear are the most likely to struggle with these complex social-emotional skills. Therefore, the development of these skills is vital to their long term success.
