Books for Reading

My students need books for the classroom library for them to read at school and home.

My Students

The students live in a large urban Midwestern city. The school has a high percentage of students who qualify for free and reduced lunches. The school is a K-5 school. This year I will be new to the school, so we will all be learning about each other!

My students are little fourth grade sponges soaking up all the knowledge they can, and they like to do it in a fun and creative way.

"Excited to learn and creative" describes my students.

My Project

Having books in the classroom is a great way to get students excited about reading. Most of the students who I teach do not have literature read to them nor do they have books at home. My goal this school year is to make sure my students close the gap and become proficient in reading.

In our classroom, we do not have a lot of books for the library, so I would like to secure more books so my students will become little bookworms the school year!

I'm requesting a Common Core Text Set: Bravery, Jack Adrift: Fourth Grade Without a Clue, Horns and Wrinkles, Snow Spider, Judy Blume, and Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing.

There is nothing more satisfying to me than sitting down with a good book. I certainly hope to instill that feeling in all my students. With these additional books in our library, it is a great possibility!
