My Students

Do you know the joy and imagination that being read to brings to a second grade child? My students learn and grow with every story they hear.

My kids are special people.

I have all ability levels from proficient readers to beginning readers with special needs. Our school is the lowest income school in our community and we have the highest amount of service learning projects ongoing throughout the year.

My Project

Our daily reading instruction consists of my students practicing their reading accuracy, fluency and comprehension independently while I pull small groups of students. One of the biggest building blocks in reading well is to read fluently. Listening to reading is a big component in becoming a fluent reader but it also helps the students recognize words for better accuracy, and when a book is read aloud they have better comprehension. These books with Cd's will allow them to become better readers in all three important categories.

My students are truly developing a love and a craving for reading.

These books with Cd's will continue to cultivate that seed for knowledge. By showing these little kids a respect for reading and education, your donation will give my students a fighting chance to succeed in their lives.
