My Students

Our school is a Title I school in a rural community. The school is 100% free or reduced-price lunch with a free after-school program to help with homework and provide extra time for computer use as most do not have the Internet at home. Our class serves students with a range of disabilities, including intellectual disabilities, emotional disturbances, autism spectrum disorder and specific learning disabilities The students are hard-working. Most of the students in my third-grade class read below grade level by two years.

The class is made up of a majority African American students.

Students receive backpack buddies for weekend. Despite these circumstances, they continue to make growth in their education. Most will increase reading levels by 2 to 5 levels throughout the year.

My Project

These books will give my students more books to read that they can relate to. We love getting books. Can you imagine yourself in the book? With these books my students can. They will read about hopes and differences. They will be reading about kindness. Hopefully, each can make a connection to some of the characters or the story.

The Sphero Mini is needed for virtual learning.

My students can hopefully check one out for home use. They will practice playing while coding the robot, sneaking in learning where ever we can.
