Hello friends!! I'm seeking your help in growing my classroom library. I am highly passionate about reading and I have opted to teach in Southeast Houston because I grew up in the neighborhood and I want to give back to my community. Reading books students enjoy is important because it motivates each student to read a multitude of books, as well as gain valuable vocabulary. But, instilling this passion to read doesn't come without it's challenges. My hope is that by giving access to books students can directly relate to or enjoy will facilitate the learning process.
My Project
Working in southeast Houston allows me the opportunity to work with students from various neighborhoods. The challenge is having easy access to literature which fosters growth. I have taken the time to select a series of books based of what my students have requested from me. From this list, I am hoping through this fundraiser/project, to purchase sets of 5 to 7 books for the library. This will allow, on average, approximately 5 to 7 of our students to read the same book. The books I have chosen are as follows: The Selection Series, Harry Potter Series, Amulet Series, Bad Kitty Series, Explorer Series, and Dork Diaries Series.
