Mrs. Donnelly from Flint MI is requesting books through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
My students need quality books at their individual reading levels. This project will provide students with Level B books.

We are an economically disadvantaged, inner-city school. Some of my students are homeless; they go from relative to relative moving every few weeks. A typical student comes to my classroom with very little knowledge of letters and sounds. Many have no books in their home. Most cannot count to 15, let alone write those numbers. Some have never even held a pencil.
Forget what you've heard, our children are resilient and strong!
They are loving and excited to learn. Our children are capable and deserve the same chance to excel.
Having quality books to read for every child, at their individual reading level, is critical to reading success. Even in kindergarten, there are a wide variety of reading levels. Experts say that classrooms need a bare minimum of 20 books per student to have an adequate classroom library. It requires books on, above, and below grade level. It requires fiction and nonfiction, books with diversity, books of various genres, and a wide range topics. My goal is to provide the best possible library for my students. I want to meet AND exceed their needs. I want to make reading fun and relevant. Supporting this project will mean you are not only directly impacting my students this year, but my future students as well.
